European Oak is a favourite hardwood for timber decking because of its hardwearing characteristics. The wood's texture is characterised by its long, coarse grain, swirls and open pores. It's natural colour is light tan to dark brown with a silvery grain structure.
If left untreated, the oak will silverdown to a colour which is typical of this wood. To retain the original colour of oak decking, the timber needs to be treated with deck oil which will also enhance the grain patterns of the decking.
Oak decking is particularly suitable for building projects such as balconies and raised platforms. It is also an idea solution for flooring in oak gazebos and outdoor garden buildings.
