|We have an excellent reputation for the quality of our firewood and use 100% oak. Our firewood logs are sawn and seasoned or kiln-dried at our own Orlestone Oak Sawmill near Ashford in Kent, from European Oak sourced from sustainable forests.
Oak firewood is one of the longest burning hardwoods. It emits little smoke or sparks and can be used on open fires or in enclosed wood burners.
The lower the moisture content of firewood the cleaner, longer it will burn for with a higher heat output. Although kiln-dried firewood is more expensive it has a higher calorific value and can therefore be better value for money.
Standard sized logs are suitable for all types of fire but chunky logs are best used for larger fires or where a longer burning period is required.
The average length of our Kiln Dried and Seasoned Oak logs is 10 to 12 inches.
Chunky logs can be specified in 12 inch or 15 inch lengths.
